Scott McTominay left Old Trafford on crutches after Manchester United’s crushing 4-1 win over Newcastle, with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirming the midfielder has picked up a knee injury.

McTominay was withdrawn from the action at half time, with United 3-1 up, as Paul Pogba replaced him to see out a comfortable victory on Boxing Day.

But the 23-year-old Scot could be out for a lengthy spell as Solskjaer confirmed that his midfielder’s injury is knee-related. KO
