Runners at the start point on Sunday

Thousands of runners braved the morning coldness to take part in this year’s Kyambogo Run this Sunday starting at the University Oval.

This year’s event was organized by Beyond Sports Organization (BSO) in conjunction with Café Javas and Kyambogo University.

The run was initially for fun in 2015 but turned charity this year after Café Javas coming on board with an initiative of buying five incubators for different hospitals as this year’s theme ‘run 4 Premature babies’ slogan said. “We are really excited to be part of this year’s run. We have always supported sports in Uganda but this is a very special run that translates into supporting premature babies,” Café Javas Director Yasin Ahmed noted. He said that the five incubators to be bought will not come from the run’s proceeds but rather come as special package from Café Javas to society.
