Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) on Friday extended equipment to 17 schools and 13 Women’s Cricket Clubs. The equipment includes all modern cricket gear; two cricket bats, three pairs of batting pads, three pairs of batting gloves, three helmets, three abdominal guards, three thigh pads, wicket keeping gloves and a pair of wicket keeping pads.
The equipment was granted by Australia-based Bankstown District Cricket Club that has extended help to UCA for the last 15 years.
“This donation reduces on our budget load and also helps the game grow at grass root level,” UCA CEO Martin Ondeko noted at the equipment handover ceremony in Lugogo.
He lauded Bankstown for this wonderful gesture. The schools that received equipment include: Kings College Buddo, Mukono Parents School, Makerere College School, Kololo SSS, Kyambogo College School, Ndejje SSS, St John’s School Mukono, Trinity Academy Bwebajja (Central). Ntare School, Nyakasura School (West), Masaka SSS (South West), Jinja SSS, Busoga High School, Kiira College Butiki, Iganga SSS (East), Teso College Aloet (Soroti).
The women’s clubs that received the equipment are:Division 1 – Aziz Damani (Kampala), Soroti Challengers, KICC, Olila High School, Pioneers Cricket Club, Jinja SSS. Division 2 – Wanderers CC, Tornado Bee CC, St John’s School, Aziz Damani Development (Masaka), Gayaza High School, Premier CC, Ceylon CC.
