Peace Kabasweka in action

Last season Singleton Golf Challenge winning pair of Peace Kabasweka and Sheilla Kesiime are eager to defend their crown after progressing to the next round (round two) of the tournament over the weekend at the par 71 Entebbe Golf Club.  128 golfers (64 teams) competed and half of the legion made it to the next stage. Kabasweka and Kesiime were up against the pair of Edwin Tabaro and Ivan Wesonga and the ‘iron ladies’ triumphed off a 5/4 victory. They confirmed the win in the 15th hole and it was a huge statement for them to win –with three holes to spare in a tournament played on stableford format. “It was a huge win for us because everybody was eager to see how we perform. Winning with three holes to play was also a huge boost for us ahead of the next round,’ Kabasweka stated before confirming readiness for the next round. Last season’s unsuccessful finalists, Paul Kaheru and Joseph Bagabo were expected to make up for last season’s jinx but were instead ejected out by Greg Patterson and Josef Salan after they lost 4/3. The other key result saw Wendy Angudeyo and Doreen Mwesigye eliminate the famous pair of Stephen Musimenta and Susan Kateba off a 8/6 triumph. Guest golfer, Gilbert Kizza (amateur) from Palm Valley Golf Club was overall winner but was not paired. He was awarded a trophy but will not feature in the next round. He played on stableford full handicap format on subsidiary basis.
